Day 2: 1 Kings 19:11-13
Read 1 Kings 19:11-13
Helpful Background Information:
In 1 Kings 19, the prophet Elijah is exhausted, afraid, and hiding in a cave. After boldly confronting the prophets of Baal and witnessing God’s power on Mount Carmel, Elijah finds himself discouraged and on the run from Queen Jezebel, who has threatened to kill him. Even after such a dramatic victory, Elijah feels alone and overwhelmed. God tells him to stand on the mountain because the Lord is about to pass by.
Reflection Questions:
Have you ever felt spiritually drained even after doing something for God? What do you think you needed in that moment?
What does this passage teach us about how God often speaks and what kind of posture we sometimes need to really hear Him?
Elijah went to a quiet place and waited for God to speak. When could you intentionally carve out space this week to do the same?
