CORE VALUES
We believe that eternal life means knowing Jesus Christ. He is the one and only way to know the indescribable, incomprehensible, and invisible God in a personal way.
We believe that all of life is about Jesus and that all of humanity finds its meaning in Him, because he is God in flesh. Our ultimate purpose is to surrender control of our lives to Christ and to treasure Him above all else.
We believe in the necessity of a vibrant and personal relationship with Jesus that results from an intimate and daily walk with Him. Jesus must be the center of our lives and the core of all we say and do.
Because Jesus, our sovereign King, is unparalleled, unprecedented, and unequaled in glory, we surrender our lives to Him and worship Him wholeheartedly. He is matchless in mercy and limitless in grace, so we set our hope on Him and put our faith in Him.
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. - John 17:3
We believe that God has spoken, and continues to speak His Word to us by way of the Bible. His Word is brought to life in us by His indwelling Spirit and is the primary instrument He uses to instruct, train, correct, and direct each and every one of us.
God's Word is more than a self-help book. It is the story of God's redemptive plan to draw us into a deeper relationship with him and, as a result of our love for him, it transforms every detail of our lives. Consuming the Word - by reading it daily, engaging in it regularly, and hearing it preached often - is a necessary catalyst for becoming more like Jesus.
Because we believe that ALL of Scripture is relevant, we are willing to wrestle with and work through the difficult passages, to ask ourselves hard questions, and to remain open to its challenges. We are to be doers and not just hearers of the Word; therefore, we read, study, and learn it with the purpose of internalizing and obeying what it says.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. - 2 Timothy 3:16
We believe that God builds and advances His kingdom through natural, adoptive, and spiritual families. Church is not an event we attend but a family we belong to with other sons and daughters of God.
We believe that good, faithful, holy marriages reflect Christ; therefore, we are passionately committed to equipping couples with the godly instruction, counsel, and encouragement they need to prepare for marriage, strengthen marriages, and help heal marriages.
We believe that strong families equal a strong church, and we work hard to provide the resources and support needed to grow and maintain healthy families. We know families can be messy and we want to help guide them through the hard things and rejoice with them in the victories, big or small.
Because all believers have been adopted into God’s family through the work of Christ on the cross, we consider it an honor and a privilege to financially and practically support families who have stepped out in faith to adopt those who would otherwise be without a family.
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:5
We believe that children and teens are worth all the time, energy, and resources that we invest in them. We work to love, nurture, and train up the next generation of disciples by helping them discover and grow to maturity in Christ.
Jesus himself elevated the status of children and the importance of having child-like faith, so we believe it is both a necessity and a joy to begin planting seeds in them as early as possible, with the hope that they will choose to be personal followers of Jesus.
We believe that it is an awesome responsibility and privilege to partner with parents in raising up passionate followers of Jesus. We desire to see young people come to understand the importance of obeying the Word, prioritizing prayer, and living their lives by the power of the Spirit.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. - Proverbs 22:6
A disciple of Jesus is someone who follows Him in order to learn from Him and live like Him. As we ourselves follow Christ, we are continually called and equipped to share both the Word and our lives with others that they might also follow, learn, live, and share.
We believe that heart transformation and spiritual growth happen best in discipleship relationships. We encourage every believer to be discipled and to disciple others. This spiritual reproduction is essential to lasting and influential leadership in the local body of Christ and beyond.
We believe the Church is responsible for reproducing itself locally, nationally, and internationally. As a local church body, we fulfill this mission by teaching and training future church leaders and partnering with others to plant churches both locally and internationally.
Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. - 1 Corinthians 11:1
We believe that we are all better and more effective together, and that spiritual growth flourishes in community, not isolation. While we do offer some programs, their purpose is always to foster Christ-centered relationships rather than simply gain knowledge.
We value discussion-based groups inside and outside our structured meeting times. These groups allow for and encourage honesty, accountability, sharing one another’s burdens, and wrestling with our faith. Together we uncover and process the friction that we feel between the truths we are learning and the present reality of what our lives look like. We believe these groups are vital to being doers and not just hearers of the Word.
We believe the Church should be a safe place where we can offer and receive help in time of need, serve and be served, rejoice in each other’s victories, invest in each other’s lives, give and receive grace, and love one another as Christ has loved us.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17
Because we are all broken and in need of a Savior, we believe that the good news is for all people and we extend Jesus’s open invitation for all to come. Everyone has equal and intrinsic value because we are made in the image of God, so we want to extend warmth and acceptance to all who care to join us, and seek to love all people towards Christ-likeness.
We believe we can have unity without uniformity and differences without division. God made us different for a purpose; therefore, we encourage authenticity, respect, and grace, as well as appreciation for how He has made and gifted others.
We believe that one vital role of the church is to bridge economic, generational, racial, personality, and career gaps to create a loving community. This diversity makes Christ-like unity even more powerful and beautiful to a watching world.
Because of Jesus’ example, we believe that no one is too important, too big, too small, or too weak to joyfully and faithfully serve here. Whether young or old, married or single, there is a role for you to play, and we will be better for having you here.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. - Romans 12:4-5
We believe that we are not owners of our gifts, finances, time, talents, experiences, power, and wisdom. Everything we have has been given to us as a display of God’s grace, with the purpose of pointing us back to Him.
Because He gave us our treasures, our abilities, our life, and our breath, we believe that they are not ours to waste, but rather to serve others and bring glory to God.
We believe that true significance comes by giving, not by getting, and that followers of Christ should be the most generous and joy-filled givers in our city and beyond.
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it - Psalm 24:1
