Day 12 : Psalm 51:1-12
Read Psalm 51:1-12
Helpful Background Information:
David wrote this Psalm after he had committed quite a heinous act. He slept with another man’s wife (Bathsheba), got her pregnant, and then tried to cover up his sin multiple times. When that didn’t work, David arranged for Uriah (Bathsheba’s husband) to be placed on the front lines of the battlefield so that he would be killed. With the problem solved, David married Bathsheba and thought that no one would be the wiser. However, God saw everything and sent the prophet Nathan to confront David about his sin. You can read the whole story in 2 Samuel 11-12.
Psalm 51 is David’s prayer of confession and repentance.
