Day 42 : Isaiah 55:1-7

Read Isaiah 55:1-7

Helpful Background Information:

  • In Mark 4:21-25, Jesus warns that we are accountable for how we hear and respond to God’s truth—those who listen and apply it will receive more, while those who reject it will lose even what they have. Isaiah 55:1-7 echoes this call, inviting all who thirst to come and be satisfied, yet warning against seeking fulfillment in what does not truly satisfy. Just as Jesus says, “Take heed what you hear,” Isaiah urges, “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live.” Both passages emphasize that spiritual understanding is not automatic; it requires a willing heart, an active response, and a rejection of self-sufficiency. The urgency is clear—“Seek the Lord while He may be found”—reminding us that neglecting God’s truth now can lead to spiritual loss later.

Reflection Questions:

  • Isaiah asks, “Why do you spend money for what is not bread?”(Isaiah 55:2a) How do people do that today?

  • What does it mean to “delight yourself in abundance” (Isaiah 55:2b) when it comes to God’s Word?

  • Isaiah 55:3 says, “Incline your ear, and come to Me.” What practical steps can you take to cultivate a heart that actively listens to God?

  • Isaiah 55:6 urges, “Seek the LORD while He may be found.” What does this verse suggest to you about the urgency of responding to God’s call?
