Day 54 : 1 Peter 5:8-11
Read 1 Peter 5:8-11
Helpful Background Information:
Peter warns believers to remain alert and steadfast because the devil is actively seeking to harm them. He describes Satan as a roaring lion who prowls the earth, looking for someone to devour. Satan aims not only to tempt but to destroy faith and render Christians ineffective. However, Peter instructs believers to resist him by standing firm in faith, knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Throughout history, God’s people have endured trials and suffering, but He remains faithful to strengthen and establish them.
In Mark 5:1-20 Jesus confronts multiple demons possessing a man. Like the roaring lion in 1 Peter 5:8, the demons had complete control over their victim, tormenting him day and night. Yet, when faced with Jesus’ authority, they could only beg for permission to enter a herd of pigs.
